Spring is upon us and that means warm weather, picnics, hiking, and the vision of renewal!

Renewal comes in many forms - and investing in yourself hopefully is top on the list. If it is, we have a full list of classes coming up that can help you learn new patterns, skills and even get back into making your own garments!

Garment sewing is making a comeback -- the modern patterns are a far cry from the Simplicity/McCalls patterns some of us started sewing with.  I am happy to announce that Beeth Galvin of Sunnygal Studio has joined our teaching staff.  Beth will be leading a series of classes for beginners(and rusty) sewists starting in May.  Beth also teaches online at Hello Stitch in Berkeley as well as giving private sewing lessons.  To learn more about Beth - check out her blog Sunnygalstudio

What are your kids/grandkids doing this summer? We are hosting our very first Summer Kid's Kamp?  🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Anna will be joined by a stellar volunteer group that will have kids learning to use a sewing machine and will complete 2 projects!
Kamp dates: June 22, 23 & 24  CLICK HERE for more information.

If you have not visited us at our new location -- we are still in Danville, just not in downtown. The new location is in the Danville Livery (big retail complex on the west corner of Sycamore Valley Rd & San Ramon Valley Blvd.)

To Mask or Not to Mask ---
In our efforts to keep everyone as safe as possible we are continuing to ask our shoppers to wear a mask in the shop. Our staff has elected to keep masked for the near future.  Please remember that our number one priority is having everyone remaining healthy.

We appreciate you - and you are only a stranger once here at Wooden Gate - we are a community of like minded sewists that make a difference in our communities. Remember, if you can't make it to the shop -- go to the Shop Online page!  From the bottom of our hearts we thank you!

Big Stitch Quilting

Cost: $ 65

Hand quilting is hand quilting, including the current ?big stitch? style. One hundred years ago these stitches would have insured your position as a permanent needle threader, now it is considered a design element. Stitching with bigger stitches and thicker thread is a wonderful alternative and/or in combination with machine quilting. Studies have proven that repetitive movements like hand stitching can also reduce your stress level. Come spend a few hours learning this technique and add it to your tool kit. Besides learning and practicing the basic rocking motion for hand quilting, we will discuss threads, needles, hoops, pinning, basting, marking techniques, thimbles and more. I will share my tips, advice and show you my process with lots of opportunity for you to explore what supplies and techniques work for you.
