String quilts are made from narrow strips or 'strings' of fabric. The strips are sewn together to form squares, triangles or other shapes. Traditionally the strips were sewn onto a paper or cloth foundation. I teach a paperless or foundation-free method. It is a quick and fun way to use up lots of scraps. You will be amazed to see how a random assortment of fabrics can come together and make a vibrant, cohesive quilt.
Learn two techniques in this full day class: - Improvisational crazy piecing to make a pieced panel - Setting your pieced panel in a circle or heart shaped frame. Use or combine any kind of fabrics: silk, quilters? cotton, reclaimed textiles from neckties, clothing or furnishing scraps. Both techniques are suited to a variety of fabrics. Your registration includes a $20 packet of gorgeous silk scraps!
Bring your featherweight and join Dave Trebotich from the "Twice Nice Sewing Machine Restoration" as he walks you through problem solving and how to service and maintain your featherweight Sewing Machine.
