Around The Block with Laura Nownes
Supplies Required:
- One jelly roll (at least 36 2.5" wide pre-cut strips)
- Half a yard of fabric for the center design. If multiple fabrics are what you would like for your centers, make sure to choose fabric pattern that can be cut into 8" x 8" squares
- Sewing Machine
- Neutral colored thread (for top thread and bobbin)
- Rotary cutter
- Pins
- Seam Ripper
- Unroll the strips and give them a quick press with your iron
- Organize the strips into 12 pleasing set of three strips each (using 36 strips total)
- It is ok to have extra strips.

| Instructor Bio: | After taking my first sampler quilt class in Berkeley, CA in 1979, I knew I had found a lifelong interest. In 1980, I visited a new quilt shop in my area where I connected with the co-owner of the shop, Diana McClun. Thus began a friendship which led to the creation of five landmark books on quiltmaking, and which continues to this day. I am best known for my first book, Quilts! Quilts!! Quilts!!!, which is often referred to as "the bible" of quiltmaking. I teach and lecture both locally and internationally. |
