Hidden Stars Quilt Class with Laura Nownes

Fabric:

For Triangles: Light-colored fabrics - four 1/4 yard pieces

                     Medium/dark colored fabrics - four 1/4 yard pieces

          Traditional 1/4 yard pieces (approx. 9” x 42” work better than fat quarters for these)

For Squares: Nine fat quarters (18” x 22” pieces)

Note:  I find it helpful to have a starting point when choosing fabric.  Select one fabric that you really like because of its color and/or design.  This will be one of the fat quarters for the squares.  Select eight more fabrics (fat quarters) that work well with your first choice.  Look closely at your collection; color variations and textures.  This will help you in choosing the eight fabrics needed for the triangles. 

Supplies 

• Sewing machine with 1/4” patchwork foot, if available
• Thread - neutral color (tan or grey) 50 weight for top and 50 or 80 weight for bobbin
• Rotary cutter
• Acrylic rulers - several rulers are available at the shop.  If you own a 6” x 12” and 6” x 6”, please bring them
• Cutting mat - these are also available at the shop however, if you have a small one you can bring to use at your personal table space
• Pins
• Seam ripper
• Pencil
