60 Degree Possibilities with Kathy Doughty

Friday's schedule begins at 10 am with a fabric lecture led by Kathy, drawing inspiration from our shop fabrics. We'll have a lunch break at 1 pm, then transition to the Danville Woman's Club at 2 pm (located at 242 W. Linda Mesa Ave, Danville). There, we'll set up our machines for a mini-retreat under Kathy's guidance. Feel free to continue sewing until 8:30 pm on Friday. The retreat concludes on Saturday, wrapping up at 5 pm.

The 60 Degree Possibilities Workshop kicks off with a discussion on leveraging fabric to craft lines and shapes, emphasizing contrast and integration with contemporary textiles. An effective method for honing fabric selection skills involves employing acrylic templates. Subsequently, we delve into the possibilities of the 60-degree triangle and hexagon patterns. Utilizing a single shape alongside an assortment of fabrics provides ample opportunity to experiment with color, tone, size, and layout.

Once we've identified an engaging assortment of fabrics, we'll guide you through the cutting and stitching techniques for 60-degree shapes, encompassing triangles, hexagons, and diamonds, with and without the daunting inset seam join! Whether you're keen on utilizing your fabric stash, delving into intriguing fabric combinations, or simply seeking to create vibrant quilts, this workshop promises an enjoyable experience!
